The growers use regenerative, chemical-free farming methods that honour the delicate ecosystems surrounding them. Fertilisers are made entirely from on-farm inputs — leaves, prunings, and cacao pods — while fermented cacao pod juice, a by-product of harvesting, is repurposed as a natural weed suppressant. Even the region’s green ants play their part, acting as nature’s pest controllers by keeping beetles, termites, and moths in check.

What's the difference between Cacao Powder and Ceremonial Cacao?
Cacao powder (or cocoa powder) has undergone intensive processing to extract cacao butter from the paste. This leaves the cacao chalkier and more insipid, and also reduces the fat content, which is vital for the transmission of the neuro-active substances. Studies have proven the widely used method to produce cocoa powder (dutch-processing) significantly decreases the levels of compounds with positive physiological effects.
Soma Cacao's cacao contains the entire cacao bean (excluding the husk/shell). They add nothing, they take nothing away, maintaining the highest concentration of antioxidants, essential minerals, and bliss-inducing compounds.
